Meet the Speakers: Henry Deards

vic

GAIN's theme for November, and our final theme month for 2023, is Rising Neurodivergent Talent. As usual, we're running events for both our individual and corporate members. For the first time, GAIN's Bea Richardson will moderate the discussion with our speakers.

In our third Meet the Speakers article for the Rising Neurodivergent Talent theme, we're delighted to introduce you to Henry Deards.

Henry Deards (He/Him) was diagnosed with autism as a child. This allowed him to receive support in education, but also opened him up to institutional discrimination. He overcame these barriers, graduated from Exeter University with a first in Computer Science, and has been working at J.P. Morgan Chase for the last 6 years as a software engineer. Henry receives bespoke accommodations through the firm’s autism at work program, but also supports his community as part of the program. This includes organizing coding workshops at local special education needs schools, interviewing for articles, running internal training and representing the program and firm at events. On top of his day-job and commitments to the Autism at Work program, Henry has filed two patents and runs regular training courses on coding best practices and leadership.
